FUJIFILM Middle East launches novel interventional cardiology solutions in MEA

Just days before WHX Dubai 2026 opens its doors at Expo City, Fujifilm Middle East unveiled what might be one of the most consequential healthcare moves in the region this year. The company is launching a dedicated interventional cardiology business line across the Middle East and Africa in partnership with India-based Innvolution Healthcare — and it's doing so with purpose.
Cardiovascular disease remains a silent giant in these regions. In the Middle East and North Africa alone, more than 1.4 million people die from it each year, and in Africa, that toll tops one million lives annually. Those are not numbers to shrug at. They're a clarion call for better tools, smarter diagnostics, and more precise treatment options — right where they're needed most.
How does it work?
This isn't just a tour of shiny new tech. It's a full-on business line with real products that clinicians use every day to diagnose, treat, and save lives. Fujifilm and Innvolution will offer:
- Cathlab and angiography systems for real-time imaging during interventions — think of these as the eyes doctors use to navigate a patient's blood vessels. These systems also pack advanced software and AI that make stent planning clearer and faster.
- Optical Coherence Tomography, or OCT — ultra-high-resolution imaging that helps cardiologists see the inside of arteries with stunning clarity.
- Drug-eluting stents, such as Everolimus stents, are designed to keep vessels open while minimizing complications.
- Accessories from balloon catheters to cardiac tools that support whole procedures, not just snapshots.
The idea is simple: give doctors in this region tools that diagnose precisely and treat personally, not generally. These aren't off-the-shelf gadgets. They're systems designed to work in concert with Fujifilm's existing cardiac IT, CT scanners, and ultrasound tech already used in hospitals.
Why does it matter?
First off, let's cut to the truth: heart disease doesn't wait. It's one of the biggest killers out there, and in many parts of the Middle East and Africa, the infrastructure simply hasn't kept pace with demand. People often get diagnosed late and treated with older, less precise tools. This new lineup could shift that curve.
As Shin Tagawa, Managing Director of Fujifilm Middle East, put it, their initiative tackles an "urgent need for enhanced diagnostic and affordable treatment solutions." The goal here isn't just to sell machines. It's to democratize cardiac care — to make sure that whether you're in Dubai, Cairo, Lagos, or Johannesburg, you can get care that's on par with the world's best.
Gaurav Agarwal of Innvolution echoed that sentiment: the collaboration "will help elevate cardiac care standards and support better patient outcomes across the region." More than marketing fluff, that speaks to a shared mission between two healthcare players with real ground presence.
The context
This move sits squarely in a broader pattern. Fujifilm's been on a decade-long pivot from cameras and film to a healthcare power player across imaging, diagnostics, and intervention. You've seen this in prior expansions — a new office in Cairo, training programs for local clinicians, and a growing footprint in multiple countries across the region.
The timing also dovetails with WHX Dubai — the evolved successor to Arab Health — where global healthcare tech leaders take the stage. It's not just a press moment. It's a strategic thrust into a market that's hungry for innovation and broad access to life-saving care.
And this push matters beyond equipment. It comes at a time when AI is entering the medical mainstream — helping doctors catch disease earlier and plan smarter treatments — and when regional health systems are investing in local capacity not just to import tech but to build expertise around it.
Fujifilm isn't stepping into cardiac care quietly. It's staking a claim in the narrative of health transformation across emerging markets. And if it plays out as they're promising, it won't just improve imaging. It'll redefine what patients and doctors here expect from modern medicine.
