Vezeeta Lab launches to transform access to healthcare

Vezeeta, a pioneer in digital healthcare in the Middle East and Africa, has announced the launch of its innovation hub - "Vezeeta Lab." This initiative aims to transform healthcare access by introducing new digital services across Egypt and Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Located at the CREATIVA Innovation Hub at Sultan Hussein Kamel Palace, Vezeeta Lab serves as a "Plug and Play" center dedicated to technological advancements in healthcare and fintech — pushing the boundaries of digital healthcare solutions in the region.

"We are proud to launch Vezeeta Lab, through which we aim to explore new and innovative services to enhance our business growth," says Choucri Asmar, Chief Corporate Development Officer.

How does it work?

Vezeeta Lab kicked off its operations with strategic partnerships, notably with VISA and NymCard, two leaders in financial technology, to streamline and secure payment solutions. This collaboration introduces efficient and innovative payment processes for both patients and healthcare providers, integrating secure and rapid digital payments directly into Vezeeta's platform.

Omar El Moataz, NymCard's Country General Manager, highlighted the potential impact: "By combining our strengths, we will create an efficient and secure payment framework that not only enhances healthcare efficiency but also enables access to funds in a seamless and instant experience."

Why does it matter?

Vezeeta Lab's commitment to innovative digital healthcare solutions is more than a technical expansion; it's a response to increasing demands for accessible, efficient, and inclusive healthcare in the region.

Asmar emphasizes this point, noting, "Vezeeta Lab aims to empower the healthcare sector by providing advanced services that align with the growing needs of customers."

By integrating streamlined payment methods, Vezeeta reduces the traditional barriers in healthcare and promotes financial inclusion and aligns with regional strategies to adopt cashless transactions and broader digital transformation.

The context

Vezeeta Lab's launch is aligned with national priorities for digital inclusion and is supported by the Egyptian government and the Central Bank of Egypt, aiming for a cashless society with efficient, secure electronic payment services.

Visa's Vice President Malak El Baba shared, "Our partnership with Vezeeta marks our first steps into the healthcare sector in Egypt and the Middle East, reflecting our commitment to driving digital transformation."

Vezeeta's position as a digital healthcare leader in the Middle East and Africa reflects a decade of growth, serving over 10 million users across countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, and Nigeria.
