South Korea’s ezCaretech wins $7 million Saudi private hospital contract

For years, ezCaretech built its Saudi Arabia business almost entirely on public-sector contracts. That strategy has now shifted. The South Korean digital healthcare company announced Thursday it has signed a contract worth approximately 10 billion won ($6.96 million) with Saudi Arabia's National Medical Care, known as Care Med, to deploy its hospital information system BESTCare 2.0 across a network of private hospitals and clinics. A project kickoff meeting is scheduled for Sunday.
Care Med is listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) and operates general hospitals and specialty medical facilities across Riyadh and other major cities. It's one of the country's leading private hospital chains, which makes this contract something of a signal: ezCaretech now has references in both the public and private sectors in the Kingdom.
The company's previous Saudi work centred on the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs and medical centres under the Royal Commission. Those are significant clients, but they sit within government structures. Winning a Tadawul-listed private operator is a different kind of credential, and one that opens different doors.
How will it work?
Under what ezCaretech describes as a "4+2" project structure, BESTCare 2.0 will first be deployed across four Care Med hospitals with a combined capacity of around 1,300 beds. That initial phase will be followed by rollout at two affiliated clinics.
BESTCare 2.0 is a next-generation hospital information system covering clinical, administrative, and operational functions across inpatient and outpatient settings. The platform has already been implemented at major public health institutions in Saudi Arabia, so the technical groundwork for the region is established.
As Care Med continues expanding its hospital network, ezCaretech expects the relationship to generate further deployment opportunities. The company also anticipates recurring revenue from maintenance and operational service contracts once the initial implementation is complete, which matters for long-term cash flow stability in overseas markets.
Why does it matter?
Saudi Arabia is actively encouraging private-sector growth in healthcare as part of Vision 2030. The government wants to reduce reliance on public provision, attract investment, and raise the quality of care available outside state facilities. That policy direction creates real commercial demand for hospital technology vendors.
ezCaretech's Middle East revenue nearly doubled last year, driven by existing clients. But growth built only on existing accounts has limits. The Care Med contract suggests the company is now generating new business from net-new clients in a different market segment, which is a more durable growth signal.
The company also reported that it has secured multiple sales leads across the region, raising expectations for additional contracts before the year is out.
The context
ezCaretech has spent the past year repositioning for this moment. At the Global Health Exhibition held in Riyadh last October, the company organised the "Team BESTCare Korea" consortium, which brought together Korean digital healthcare companies under a single brand and drew attention from local buyers. It also signed a memorandum of understanding with LEAN, a Saudi state-owned company with a central role in the country's health technology ecosystem.
Those moves were deliberate. The company is not just selling a product; it is building a regional identity as the representative of Korean health IT capability in the Gulf.
This year, ezCaretech plans to expand the Team BESTCare Korea initiative further to strengthen brand recognition across the Middle East. The Care Med project, once live, will be its primary reference asset in the private hospital market.
"This contract is the result of more than a year of carefully planned and executed strategies tailored to the Middle East market," said CEO Hong Woo-sun. "We have successfully extended the technological capabilities proven in Saudi Arabia's public healthcare sector into the private market. Going forward, we will further strengthen the Team BESTCare Korea collaboration with leading Korean digital healthcare companies and serve as a catalyst for the broader expansion of Korea's healthcare industry into the Middle East."
