CurifyLabs raises €12 million to bring 3D-printed personalized medicine to more pharmacies

A Finnish startup that uses 3D printing to automate the preparation of personalized medications has closed a €12 million Series A round. CurifyLabs, based in Helsinki, plans to use the money to expand in the U.S., build out its supply chain, and keep developing its core platform.
The round was co-led by Sandwater and HealthCap, with Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd.) and existing backers including Lifeline Ventures also participating. It follows a €6.7 million raise the company completed in May 2025, bringing its total disclosed funding to just under €19 million.
"This investment reflects the conviction our partners have in what we're building," said Charlotta Topelius, CEO and founder of CurifyLabs. "We have set a high bar for clinical rigor, product quality, and customer support, and this funding gives us the resources to raise that bar further."
How does it work?
CurifyLabs has built what it calls a Compounding System Solution, or CSS. It combines three things: proprietary software, GMP-manufactured excipient bases (the inactive substances used as carriers in medications), and 3D printing hardware. Together, they let pharmacies automate the preparation of custom-dosed medications rather than mixing them by hand.
The company's latest device, the PharmaPrinter Aurum, can compound medications up to nine times faster than manual processes. The technology is ISO 13485 certified and built to comply with FDA 503A and 503B standards for non-sterile compounding, which govern how pharmacies in the U.S. can legally prepare custom medications.
Pharmacies in 21 U.S. states and across Europe currently use the platform to compound and dispense thousands of doses every day.
Why does it matter?
Compounding pharmacies fill a real gap in healthcare. They prepare medications in doses or forms that aren't commercially available, which is especially important for patients who need a specific dose, can't tolerate a standard ingredient, or require a different format like a liquid instead of a pill. But traditional compounding is slow, labor-intensive, and prone to human error.
CurifyLabs is trying to fix that with automation. "We are enabling more pharmacies to deliver personalized medicine in a safer and more efficient way," said Morten E. Iversen, partner at Sandwater. The investor also noted that personalized medicine is seeing strong growth, which makes the timing relevant for pharmacies looking to add or scale compounding services.
For patients, the practical benefit is more consistent, accurately dosed medications prepared faster. For pharmacies, it means compounding without needing specialized staff to do everything by hand.
The context
CurifyLabs is raising into a busy moment for health infrastructure investment in Europe. A wave of funding has gone into companies working on personalized health, diagnostics, and clinical workflow tools in 2026. Comparable rounds include:
- Rem3dy Health: €16 million for personalized health expansion
- ShanX Medtech: €24 million for antimicrobial-susceptibility diagnostics
- SamanTree Medical: €20 million EIB financing for surgical imaging
- BioLamina: €20 million EIB loan for cell therapy infrastructure
- Astral Systems: €26 million Series A for medical isotope supply infrastructure
Together, those rounds and this one account for roughly €149 million in disclosed funding across 2026 so far, which points to sustained investor appetite for companies modernizing how healthcare is delivered and supplied.
HealthCap partner Daniel Karsberg, whose firm has backed more than 136 life sciences companies over nearly three decades, said what stands out about CurifyLabs is the team's ability to combine scientific depth with practical execution. Tesi's investment director Joni Karsikas framed the round as evidence that Finnish health technology can compete globally. Founded in 2021, CurifyLabs is still a young company, but its footprint across two continents suggests it's moving quickly.
