Fitbit’s app gets a simplified user experience

Google has redesigned the Fitbit app, which now features a three-tab structure for easier access to all the health and fitness content, easily glanceable stats, and more.
Rolling out to users as we speak, the updated app has these tabs — "Today," "Coach," and "You" — to bring the health and wellness information you care about front and center.
Highlights
According to Google, these are five ways to make the most out of the new Fitbit app:
- Improved tracking: The new Fitbit boasts improved communication with your phone's sensors for more accurate step counts. You can now track a walk, run or hike using just the Fitbit app on your phone - even if you're not wearing a Fitbit device or Google Pixel Watch.
- Customizable stats: You can now customize what stats you see by tapping edit at the top of the Today tab. Then, you can choose your focus based on personal goals and see the stats that are most important.
- New Coach tab: It lets you quickly filter workouts based on workout type, duration, required equipment, instructor, and more to get you moving how you want to move. There is also fresh content to pump up your routine to keep both your mind and body fit.
- Better charts: Charts now include easy-to-understand information about metrics and highlight patterns, helping you make sense of your health and wellness data. You can also tap on a metric to learn more about what it means for your health and wellness.
- Privacy controls: Review and manage your data right from the app. And, as always, Google says your Fitbit health and wellness data won't be used for Google ads and will be kept separate from Google ads data.
Google concludes that the new Fitbit app is designed to help you reach your goals, no matter where you are on your health and wellness journey.
New Fitbit device coming soon
In the other Fitbit news, the company is preparing to launch a new device on September 28, according to a teaser posted on X.
Chances are this will be the Fitbit Charge 6, as the teaser briefly shows a device with a similar design to the Charge 5.
The device is expected to bring back the side button for improved navigation. Also, it may have new Google Maps and YouTube Music integrations. We'll get all details in just a few days, so stay tuned...
