Ubie partners with Mayo Clinic to build unified patient access platform

Healthcare AI company Ubie has teamed up with Mayo Clinic to build a new patient access platform that could change how people interact with health systems. The collaboration aims to replace the confusing mess of multiple healthcare portals with a single, always-available entry point.

The platform, called Ubie Smart Support, wants to solve a growing problem in healthcare technology. While digital tools have improved patient scheduling and access beyond basic phone calls, many health systems now force patients to juggle multiple portals and apps. This creates confusion and low adoption rates.

How does it work?

Smart Support combines chat and voice interfaces into one access point. Patients can choose how they want to communicate with the system. The platform uses clinically validated symptom assessment to figure out what kind of care someone needs, then routes them to the right place based on their symptoms, insurance coverage, and medical requirements.

The system handles natural conversations and provides instant answers. When cases are too complex or urgent, it can escalate to human agents. Mayo Clinic and Ubie also plan to add a chronic disease management module that helps patients with ongoing conditions track their care plans and get personalized recommendations.

Why does it matter?

Health systems are struggling with overloaded call centers, scheduling problems, and inconsistent patient experiences. Smart Support aims to boost first-contact resolution rates and self-service completion while improving patient satisfaction scores.

"Ubie's collaboration with Mayo Clinic is a significant step to further our mission of guiding everyone to the right care, where the needs of the patient come first," said Kota Kubo, co-founder and co-CEO of Ubie. "By unifying the current approach to digital front doors, Ubie seeks to streamline how patients engage with health systems and accelerate their path to getting the care that they need."

The context

This partnership builds on Ubie's 30-week pilot program with Mayo Clinic's Platform Accelerate program. Founded in 2017, Ubie has backing from Google and focuses on AI-powered patient journeys that help people move from symptoms to appropriate care.

The company supports over 13 million monthly users worldwide, including more than 1 million in the U.S. In Japan, over 1,800 healthcare organizations use Ubie's provider solutions. The company's consumer products are seeing 30% month-over-month growth.

Mayo Clinic has disclosed a financial interest in this technology and will use any revenue to support its patient care, education and research mission.
