Qatar HMC’s new Lbaih app surpasses 100K downloads

When Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) rolled out its mobile app, Lbaih, on July 20, it didn't take long for patients in Qatar to latch onto it. The numbers speak volumes: over 100,000 downloads and more than 400,000 logins in just weeks. In a country pushing for digital transformation in healthcare, the appetite for tools that put control in patients' hands is loud and clear.
How does it work?
Lbaih is designed to make the patient journey smoother and more personal. With just a few taps, users can:
- View upcoming medical appointments
- Reschedule or cancel without a phone call or trip to the clinic
- Access vital health records like lab results, prescriptions, and even vital signs
The app is tied into the Qatar National Authentication System for secure login, while fingerprint and face recognition make future access as easy as unlocking your phone. As HMC puts it, the goal is simple: a unified, reliable experience across all its hospitals and facilities.
Why does it matter?
Healthcare is often weighed down by paperwork, waiting rooms, and the age-old frustration of "hurry up and wait." By handing patients the keys to their own medical data and scheduling, Lbaih flips that script. HMC highlighted that 7,214 users have already changed or checked appointments through the app, while 9,011 have accessed personal health data.
As HMC noted, "Lbaih not only enhances convenience but also empowers patients to manage their health more flexibly and effectively." That empowerment — giving patients ownership over their care — may be one of the most important cultural shifts in healthcare today.
The context
Lbaih isn't just another health app; it's a piece of a much bigger puzzle. Qatar's National Vision 2030 sets out a plan for a tech-driven, future-ready healthcare system. Digital tools like this app aren't a side project, they're the scaffolding on which that future rests.
And let's not forget: adoption matters. Too many health apps die on the vine because patients don't — or can't — use them. Lbaih's early traction suggests HMC struck the right balance: simple design, clear purpose, and features that meet real needs. In a region where digital health is rising fast, Qatar is planting its flag with solutions that aim to be both accessible and forward-looking.
