Perplexity Health connects all your medical data in one place

Millions of people ask Perplexity Health questions every day. They want to know what their lab results mean or whether a symptom needs attention. Some ask about medications, others want to understand a diagnosis better.

Today Perplexity is launching Perplexity Health, a new platform that connects to your personal health data. It combines information from medical records, wearables, and health apps to answer questions about your specific situation.

How does it work?

Perplexity Health connects to multiple health data sources through a single interface. Your personal health information is currently scattered across different places:

  • Lab results in one portal
  • Prescriptions in another system
  • Fitness data in a third app

The new platform brings all this information together. It launches with connectors for Apple Health, electronic health records from over 1.7 million healthcare providers, and platforms like Fitbit, Ultrahuman, and Withings. Partners include b.well and Terra API, with direct integrations also available. ŌURA and Function connections are coming soon.

When you ask a health question, the system draws from all your connected data sources at once. A question about resting heart rate, for example, considers your recent activity, cardiac history, and latest bloodwork together.

The platform is built on Perplexity Computer, which coordinates multiple AI agents to research and analyze information. Users can build custom marathon training protocols based on their fitness data, generate summaries before doctor visits, create personalized nutrition plans, or find appropriate medical care.

Why does it matter?

Most health information online is written to rank well in search engines, not to provide accurate medical guidance. Perplexity Health answers draw from premium medical literature, including clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed journals. Every response includes citations linked directly to source material.

The platform also includes safety measures that generic health websites often lack:

  • Clear guidance on when to seek medical care
  • Warnings about limitations of the service
  • Emphasis that it doesn't replace professional medical advice

Health data receives strong privacy protection. Information is encrypted during transmission and storage, with strict access controls. Users can manage or delete their information anytime. Health data sources can be disconnected, and the information is never used to train AI models or sold to third parties.

The context

Perplexity is positioning itself as a more accurate alternative to traditional search engines for health information. The company emphasizes its focus on credible sources and verifiable citations, which addresses a major problem with health information online.

To ensure clinical accuracy, Perplexity is forming a Health Advisory Board. The group includes physicians, researchers, and health technology leaders who will review product decisions, content quality, and clinical safeguards against evidence-based medicine standards.

Perplexity Health will first roll out to Pro and Max subscribers in the US over the coming weeks. More user groups and geographic regions will follow.

The company includes standard medical disclaimers: Perplexity Health provides educational information and tools to help users understand their data and have better conversations with healthcare providers. It's not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent diseases and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
