Nabta Health lands PVP backing as it moves from R&D to selling

After eight years of building, Nabta Health is now trying to sell. That shift, from product development to commercial growth, is the real story behind its latest funding.

Phoenix Venture Partners (PVP), a fund manager regulated in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, has led the second close of Nabta's ongoing $3 million pre-Series A. Its cheque mixes primary and secondary capital. The amount raised in this close was not disclosed. Family offices, venture firms, institutions and high-net-worth investors have also joined the round.

Nabta was founded in 2017 by Sophie Smith and began as a direct-to-consumer women's health platform. It now pitches itself as preventive care infrastructure for employers, insurers and providers. Its tools include early disease detection, hybrid digital and clinical care, and Aya, an AI-supported care navigation tool.

There is a governance change too. PVP co-founder Dr. Mussaad Al-Razouki, a founding investor and former Executive Chairman, steps down from the board. PVP founder and CEO Steve Khayat takes the seat.

The funds will be used for...

Money will go to commercial expansion, customer acquisition and strategic partnerships. The targets are employers, insurance companies and healthcare providers. Khayat says the company has shown strong commercial traction and should now focus on go-to-market and sales.

Why does it matter?

Payors are the buyers that count. Employers and insurers across the GCC are looking at rising chronic disease costs, and prevention is cheaper than treatment. Nabta is betting that earlier detection and coordinated care can lower those bills. That bet fits the preventive health priorities in UAE strategies and Saudi Vision 2030.

It also matters that a women's health company is selling to payors, not just patients. Women's health has long been underfunded, and enterprise contracts could give it a steadier revenue base.

The context

Nabta raised $2 million in pre-Series A funding in November 2025, bringing its total funding to $4.5 million. This latest close adds to that. PVP has backed the company since its early days, so this is a deepening of an existing relationship, not a new one.

The test is simple. Can Nabta turn pilots and traction into signed enterprise contracts across the region? That answer will shape its Series A.
