Lunit to deploy AI chest X-ray solution to Saudi Arabia’s largest medical group

Global leader in AI-driven medical diagnostics Lunit is deepening its presence in Saudi Arabia with a major new deal. After a successful rollout last year, the company has secured a second contract with Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group (HMG), the country's largest healthcare provider. Over the next three years, Lunit's AI-powered chest X-ray analysis tool, Lunit INSIGHT CXR, will process an estimated 1 million images, bringing a new level of efficiency and accuracy to medical imaging across the Kingdom.

"We are proud to further strengthen our collaboration with Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group," said Lunit's CEO, Brandon Suh. "This second contract underscores the value of our AI solutions and reflects our shared commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation."

How does it work?

Lunit INSIGHT CXR is an AI-powered tool that rapidly analyzes chest X-rays, flagging abnormalities with remarkable precision. The system detects conditions such as lung cancer, tuberculosis, and pneumonia, helping doctors make faster, more informed decisions.

  • AI scans X-rays in real time, identifying potential issues with high accuracy.
  • It integrates seamlessly into clinical workflows, reducing the burden on radiologists.
  • By catching issues early, it enhances patient outcomes and speeds up treatment.

This technology builds on Lunit's previous collaboration with HMG, which introduced AI-driven breast cancer screening in the region through Lunit INSIGHT MMG. Now, the focus expands to chest diseases, a crucial area in preventative healthcare.

Why does it matter?

The demand for AI in healthcare is booming, and for good reason. Radiologists are often stretched thin, facing an overwhelming number of scans to interpret daily. AI doesn't replace them — it helps them work more efficiently.

  • Faster diagnosis means quicker treatment, which can be life-saving in conditions like lung cancer.
  • Reducing human error ensures greater diagnostic accuracy.
  • AI tools support overburdened healthcare systems, particularly in regions with a shortage of radiologists.

Saudi Arabia is actively modernizing its healthcare sector under the Vision 2030 initiative, prioritizing AI and digital transformation. The integration of Lunit's technology fits right into this ambitious plan.

The context

AI-powered diagnostics are no longer futuristic — they're happening now, and Saudi Arabia is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformation. According to Markets and Data, the country's AI-driven medical diagnostics market is set to skyrocket, growing from USD 34.37 million in 2023 to an estimated USD 231.77 million by 2031. That's a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 27%.

"Expanding our partnership with HMG demonstrates the growing demand for AI-powered diagnostics across the Middle East," Suh noted. "We are excited to continue supporting Saudi Arabia's healthcare transformation while addressing key challenges such as radiologist shortages."

Lunit's latest deal cements its foothold in a region eager to embrace AI-powered healthcare. As adoption accelerates, AI won't just be an add-on — it will become a core pillar of modern medical diagnostics.
