Interview with Kain Roomes, founder and CEO of XRP Healthcare

Our latest interview is with Kain Roomes, founder and CEO of XRP Healthcare. He's interesting with an extraordinary story that saw him entering the crypto market early and then using his crypto expertise (and money) to improve healthcare in underserved markets of Africa and elsewhere — with the help of modern technology. Here's what Kain had to say:
Can you tell us a bit more about yourself? What's your background?
I'm not ordinary — I have no university qualifications and left school at 15 to pursue football full-time. After stepping away from the sport, I went into fitness modeling, working with brands like Nike and Sports Direct. Then in 2018, I sold my Rolex Submariner and put everything into Bitcoin and a few altcoins — turning £7,500 into over £2 million.
That taught me the power of conviction. But XRP Healthcare? That's where I felt energy like never before.
People often forget — Richard Branson started out selling records before he launched an airline. So it doesn't matter how you start — it's where you're going that counts. I took all those experiences, combined them with instinct, speed, and vision — and founded a company that reflects exactly who I am: bold, unconventional, and built to lead.
Let's speak about your company. What is the market problem you want to solve and where do you see the opportunity?
Africa's healthcare sector is one of the largest untapped opportunities globally — it's a US $259 billion market, yet millions still lack access to affordable, quality care. In Uganda alone, 57% of the population relies on private healthcare, but the market is extremely fragmented with thousands of inefficient, under-resourced providers.
XRP Healthcare is solving this by consolidating these mom-and-pop operators under one brand, upgrading them with capital, technology, and AI. We're bringing operational efficiency, digital transformation, and scale to a sector that's been overlooked for too long.
The opportunity? It's across the entire African continent and other pharmerging markets (editor's note: countries with low pharmaceutical market positions but experiencing rapid growth in pharmaceutical spending). As governments, NGOs, and investors look for real-world impact, we're building the infrastructure to modernize healthcare from the ground up. We're not just reacting to a problem — we're creating the solution.
What are the features differentiating your offering from competitors?
We set out with the mentality to create, not compete.
XRP Healthcare is the first healthcare platform built on the XRP Ledger, but what really sets us apart is our hybrid model. We're not just a digital health company or an AI app — we're actively acquiring and transforming real-world pharmacies and healthcare providers across Africa, then integrating that with next-gen AI to create a complete ecosystem.
Others focus on either tech or healthcare. We're doing both — at scale — with speed, clarity, and a first-mover advantage.
Can you share some numbers and achievements of the business?
We've signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to go public on the TSX Venture Exchange at a CAD $15M valuation. Our first acquisition, Pharma Ville in Uganda, includes five wholesale and two retail pharmacies generating seven figures in annual revenue. The XRPH AI App is already live on iOS and Android, offering multilingual health guidance and prescription savings.
When we first launched XRP Healthcare, the XRPH token reached a US $194 million market cap within three months — a clear signal of belief in our vision from the global crypto community.
We've also secured major partnerships with organizations like United Networks of America and Isansys, and have been featured in Yahoo Finance, Bloomberg, Cointelegraph, Benzinga, and many other news sources.
What are your medium-term plans?
Our medium-term focus is on completing our Reverse Takeover and listing on the TSX Venture Exchange in Canada. From there, we plan to accelerate acquisitions — targeting at least two additional healthcare businesses in Uganda — and begin rebranding and integrating them under the XRP Healthcare umbrella.
We're also advancing our AI strategy. The XRPH AI App is rolling out more features, expanding language support, and positioning itself as a go-to digital health assistant across Africa and other underserved regions.
Our goal is to create a scalable healthcare ecosystem that blends real-world infrastructure with smart technology, driving operational efficiency, improving patient outcomes, and setting the stage for expansion into other pharmerging markets.
Do you have some advice for other entrepreneurs in the digital health space in MENA?
Be bold, move fast, and don't wait for permission. The healthcare sector is full of legacy systems and red tape — which means if you come in with clarity, value, and execution, you'll stand out.
Also, don't just build for hype. Build something that actually solves a local problem. Think global, but execute locally. That's where scale and longevity come from.
Anything to add for the end?
XRP Healthcare is focused on real-world impact — delivering smarter, faster, and more accessible healthcare where it's needed most. This journey is bigger than any one person — it's about building something that transforms lives.
And to those who believed in us from day one — and continue to stand with us — thank you. Your support is the foundation of everything we're building.
