Rolled into Quantum's Premier Pharmacy navigation platform, this solution isn't just about handing out prescriptions. It's about smart choices, behavior change, and long-term savings.

How does it work?

Quantum and Vida's approach goes beyond pills — it's a full package deal.

  • One-stop support: Quantum acts as the central hub, giving members education, personalized clinical assessments, and clear guidance.
  • Smart prescribing: Vida Health steps in with responsible, evidence-based prescriptions — no overprescribing, no waste.
  • Step-by-step care: Instead of jumping straight into expensive GLP-1s, members often begin with behavior coaching and less intensive meds. Only about 14% start on GLP-1s — way below the usual 40-50% in unmanaged settings.
  • Lifestyle first: The goal? Long-term health, not just a quick fix. The solution helps members build healthier habits while keeping tabs on cost and effectiveness.

Why does it matter?

Employers are feeling the heat. GLP-1 drugs are booming in popularity, and with more employees qualifying for coverage, the costs are spiraling.

  • 79% of employers say there's a spike in interest for weight management meds.
  • 96% already cover GLP-1s for diabetes, and 67% are expanding coverage to weight loss.

And here's the kicker — 96% of employers are sweating over the long-term cost implications.

The context

Obesity's no longer brushed off as just a lifestyle issue. It's now seen as a chronic condition — a full-blown disease — affecting more than 42% of American adults. That shift in thinking has big implications.

The Journal of the American Medical Association recognizes obesity as a complex, chronic disease. And benefit consultants are catching on. According to the 2024 Benefit Consultant Sentiment Index, nearly two-thirds of consultants are seeing increased demand for guidance around specialty drugs like GLP-1s.

Yet most employers still aren't ready. Only 1 in 4 currently cover GLP-1s for weight loss, even as demand soars.

Quantum's new solution aims to close that gap. Their Premier Pharmacy platform, launched in 2024, already serves over 500 self-insured employers and 3 million members.
