Bupa Clinics in Mina transform healthcare into an integrated digital experience

When the world flocks to Mina for Hajj — under the blazing sun and tight logistics — healthcare isn't just a service; it's a lifeline. This year, Bupa Arabia, through its CareConnect arm, raised the bar. Its "Bupa Clinics" initiative didn't just show up; it showed how modern care should feel — fast, human, tech-powered, and open to all, regardless of insurance.
Between June 4 and 9, smack in the heart of Hajj's busiest days, Bupa's mobile clinics offered 24/7 medical support, operating like a well-oiled machine. But more than stats and checkups, this was about trust, dignity, and showing up when it matters most.
How did it work?
Bupa Clinics didn't just roll in with doctors — they came wired for impact:
- Fully digitized setup with real-time diagnostics
- ECGs, blood pressure, glucose monitors all synced with Bupa's central system
- Instant patient logging and seamless referrals
- Around-the-clock care by six doctors and three nurses, rotating to stay sharp
Every pilgrim was treated equally. Whether it was heat exhaustion, a chronic illness flare-up, or a trauma incident — care was swift, precise, and personal. One patient even received emergency life-saving treatment on-site.
And this wasn't just about body health. Mental well-being got a seat at the table too.
"We didn't just patch people up," said Dr. Abdullah Khafagy, Executive Medical Director. "We reassured them. We helped them breathe through the stress."
Why does it matter?
In five whirlwind days, 1,368 pilgrims were treated. That's not just a number — that's lives touched.
- 20 urgent cases were rushed to Mina's Armed Forces Hospital
- 1 critical life saved on the ground
- Countless moments of comfort offered, with no bureaucratic barriers in sight
- No paperwork shuffle. No membership checklists. Just care.
As Bupa Arabia's CEO Tal Nazer put it: "This was more than a medical intervention. It was a statement about our role in society."
That's what makes this different. It's not just about treating ailments — it's about setting a new standard. About proving that high-caliber healthcare can and should meet people right where they are.
The context
Historically, Bupa Arabia has focused on workplace-based clinics for clients like SABIC and the National Housing Company. But Mina wasn't a corporate campus. It was the public square. A trial by fire, with heat, dust, crowds, and prayer.
This leap from controlled environments to one of the most logistically challenging religious events on earth marks a shift in how — and where — Bupa operates.
It's part of a bigger picture:
- Mobile digital clinics in rural regions
- A user-friendly, unified Bupa App
- "Without approvals" insurance removing delays, thanks to AI
By moving beyond corporate zones into sacred public spaces, Bupa Arabia didn't just showcase its tech — it lived its mission.
In a world chasing convenience and connectivity, Bupa Clinics brought both to the footpaths of pilgrims. It's healthcare with a heart — and a Wi-Fi signal.
