Abu Dhabi unveils new health services on TAMM

Abu Dhabi isn't just digitizing healthcare — it's reinventing the experience. The Department of Health (DoH) has launched Sahatna Space and the International Patient Care Mini-App on TAMM, the emirate's all-in-one government services platform. Together, they mark a turning point in how citizens and patients — local or international — interact with care. As one official put it, "We're building an intelligent health system that's proactive, predictive, and personalised."

This isn't hype. It's the next logical step in a strategy that sees healthcare as an integrated part of everyday digital life.

How does it work?

The magic lies in simplicity.

Sahatna Space folds a wide range of health services into TAMM — the same platform residents already use for paying bills, renewing licenses, or accessing public services. Users can book appointments, manage prescriptions, view health records, and even explore wellness content, all without hopping between apps. The transition from the standalone Sahatna app will be complete by the end of November, when all services move exclusively under TAMM's umbrella.

But this is just the beginning. Upcoming features include AI-powered health assistants, IVF services, and personalized health tips. These aren't bells and whistles; they're stepping stones toward predictive care — health that thinks ahead.

The International Patient Care Mini-App adds another layer. Built for residents seeking treatment abroad, it covers every step of the journey: from pre-travel preparations to post-treatment follow-ups. It handles appointments, travel logistics, consent forms, escort coordination, and final medical reports — all in real time.

Unveiled during GITEX Global 2025, the app sends a clear message: Abu Dhabi's health system isn't just keeping up with technology — it's setting the pace.

Why does it matter?

For patients, it means control. For the system, it means coherence. By housing healthcare within TAMM, Abu Dhabi eliminates the clunky back-and-forth between apps and ministries. It's the kind of user-first thinking that turns government platforms into living ecosystems.

This matters because convenience drives engagement. When booking a check-up feels as easy as renewing a car registration, people are more likely to do it. When international patients can manage their entire care process from one screen, the emirate's appeal as a global treatment destination rises.

A senior DoH official summed it up neatly: "By bringing healthcare into the same platform residents already use for their daily needs, we're removing barriers, empowering individuals, and setting a new global benchmark."

Underneath that vision is something deeper — the shift from reactive care to proactive health. The more connected and data-driven the system becomes, the closer Abu Dhabi gets to spotting problems before they arise.

The context

Two decades ago, healthcare digitalization meant electronic records and online appointment forms. Today, it's about ecosystems — interlinked services, data intelligence, and seamless experiences. Abu Dhabi's move fits squarely into that evolution.

TAMM's integration of health services shows that the city's digital government strategy is maturing fast. Rather than building isolated apps, the DoH is embedding healthcare into citizens' daily digital routines. It's no longer about downloading another icon; it's about accessing care as naturally as sending a message.

There's also a global dimension here. Countries are competing to attract international patients, and digital convenience is now a deciding factor. The International Patient Care Mini-App positions Abu Dhabi as not just a medical hub, but a connected one — responsive, transparent, and efficient.

And because this digital transformation is led by a regulator, not a tech vendor, trust and data security are baked in from day one. That combination — governance, innovation, and usability — may well be the new model for digital health systems worldwide.

In short, this isn't just about new features on an app. It's a glimpse into a world where healthcare blends effortlessly into daily life — smart, intuitive, and just a tap away.
