Hyatt taps mental health company Headspace to help travelers sleep

In a bid to enhance the travel experience and promote better sleep, World of Hyatt has partnered with Headspace, a leading mental health platform, to launch an exclusive video series titled Science Behind Sleep. The initiative is designed to equip travelers with expert insights and science-backed strategies to improve their sleep routines.
Starting November 14, this sleep-focused series is accessible in nearly 400 Hyatt hotel guestrooms and through the Headspace app.
How does it work?
The "Science Behind Sleep" series offers five episodes, each targeting common sleep challenges travelers face:
- Befriending Jet Lag: Techniques to combat circadian misalignment and reduce jet lag.
- Creating a Travel Bedtime Routine: Tips to make new environments feel familiar, easing the transition.
- Eat and Drink Smarter: Guidance on mindful consumption to protect sleep cycles.
- Dealing with Night Time Wake-Ups: Strategies for falling back asleep under different scenarios.
- The Power of Morning Sunlight: Ways to leverage natural light to support the body's internal clock and enhance overall wellbeing.
Filmed at the serene Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in California, the series is led by Headspace's Dora Kamau and features insights from sleep expert Dr. Aric Prather. Together, they blend mindfulness practices with scientific research to provide actionable advice.
Why does it matter?
Sleep is essential, especially when traveling. According to a recent survey by Hyatt, three out of four consumers prioritize sleep quality while on the road. This underscores the need for practical solutions to address sleep disruptions caused by factors like jet lag, stress, and unfamiliar environments.
As TJ Abrams, Hyatt's Vice President of Global Wellbeing, puts it: "To ensure guests and members are feeling their best, no matter where they lay their heads, the video series is designed to help our guests, members, customers and colleagues on their wellbeing journeys."
Beyond helping travelers achieve restful nights, better sleep also contributes to improved mental health, focus, and overall enjoyment during trips.
The context
Hyatt and Headspace's collaboration is not new. Since 2019, the partnership has aimed to make mindfulness and wellbeing practices more accessible through guided meditations, sleep content, and even premium colored noise offerings. This latest initiative builds on that foundation, reinforcing Hyatt's commitment to holistic guest care.
Emma Nemtin, Head of Consumer Partnerships at Headspace, highlights the unique value of this partnership: "Through the synergy of Headspace's expertise in sleep hygiene and scientific insights, combined with Hyatt's commitment to world-class hospitality and guest wellbeing, together, we're uniquely positioned to help guests unlock the secrets to their best sleep yet."
In addition, Hyatt extends this care to non-profit organizations, offering complimentary Headspace subscriptions to support vulnerable communities, further emphasizing its broader purpose of care.
